A Brief History…

Chandos Auto’s was established in 1985 and has been operating for over 25 years; the previous owner Doug Kee has built a solid reputation for quality and service and has a customer base of over 600 loyal customers. The new owners of Chandos Autos are Matthew and Paul Fordham, father and son, who have lived in the local area all their lives.

Paul began his apprenticeship and career on motor vehicles when he was 16 years of age, working with his father at a Shell Service Centre. After many years of service with his father at the Shell Garage they moved on to a larger factory in Braeside. Paul worked with his father in the workshop until his father passed away, he then continued to run the business which grew considerable and to the point where he needed to move to larger premises. Paul was also a professional motor racing driver. When he was offered to run a two car top level racing team, he decided to follow his racing career. After an enjoyable 30 years in motor racing he has now hung up his gloves and returned to the auto service industry.

Matthew started his Motor Mechanical Apprenticeship when he was 16 years of age. After he completed his apprenticeship, Matthew decided to have a short break and worked in retail sales where he excelled in customer service. This is most apparent when you see how he enjoys a good relationship with customers. Now the next generation of father and son team have taken up the reins at Chandos Autos. Paul and Matthew are highly fortunate to have Doug stay on to assure a smooth change-over of the business. Chandos Auto’s looks forward to serve our loyal customers as well as new customers. We are based in Cheltenham, but we are not limited to just one place and offer car service and repairs for residents of Beaumaris, Black Rock, Sandringham, Highett and the surrounding areas. Original mechanic sick, booked in a panic to another who did not turn up. Last day to keep registration ( I had been waiting for original mechanic- my fault). I rang Chandos and these guys squeezed us in. They were already busy. They were kind, professional, upfront and honest. I will definitely go back to these guys. Very happy. A massive Thankyou
